The AI Visibility Score, explained

The AI Visibility Score is a single 0–100 number for how visible your brand is across AI answer engines. CitePeak computes it from five weighted dimensions: Coverage (0.30), Prominence (0.25), Share of Voice (0.20), Citations (0.15) and Sentiment (0.10).

The five dimensions

Coverage — how often AI mentions you at all (the foundation: if you're not named, nothing else matters). Prominence — when you appear, are you named first or buried at the end. Share of Voice — your mentions vs. your competitors'. Citations — how often AI links your site as a source. Sentiment — the tone the AI uses about you.

The score is 100 × (0.30·Coverage + 0.25·Prominence + 0.20·Share of Voice + 0.15·Citations + 0.10·Sentiment). It's explainable on purpose — you can see exactly which lever is dragging the number and act on it.

Why it's a range, not a fixed number

AI answers are non-deterministic, so any honest score moves ±5–10% week to week. A good tool shows confidence and sample size on every reading and flags low-confidence extractions instead of pretending false precision. What matters for decisions is the trend, not a single snapshot.

How to raise it

Start with the lowest-weighted-but-lowest-scoring lever the report flags. Usually that's Coverage (get mentioned at all) via third-party citations, then Prominence (clear, early, direct answers) and Citations (become a source AI links to). Track the score over time to confirm your changes moved the needle.

FAQ

How is the AI Visibility Score calculated?+

100 × (0.30·Coverage + 0.25·Prominence + 0.20·Share of Voice + 0.15·Citations + 0.10·Sentiment), measured across the AI answer engines. When your brand is never mentioned, the sentiment dimension is N/A and its weight is redistributed.

What's a good score?+

Higher is better, but the meaningful signal is your trend over time and how you compare to competitors in your category — not an absolute threshold.

Why did my score change?+

Models update, competitors push, and the default answer gets rewritten — plus natural ±5–10% week-to-week variance. CitePeak tracks the trend and alerts you when it moves meaningfully.
